One Hundred Class Wide Rewards

WOW
We are the first class in KS1 (and maybe the whole school) to get one hundred class wide rewards.  We decided to ask Mrs Garton if we could bake some cakes.
They were delicious and scrumptious!
Well Done Anansies, and Thankyou Mrs Garton, Mrs Jinkinson and our Y6 helpers!

Anansi Base's 15 Amazing Reads - Book 1

Today we read Anthony Browne's Gorilla.
The children loved this story, and we decided to add it to our list of "Anansi Base's 15 Amazing Reads."  This means we will read it many times over the school year as one of our favourite books.  Have you read it too?  What did you like about it?
TS said that this Gorilla looked like Superman and then JS told us that he was flying over Manhattan.  Mr Murphy told us that Manhattan was in New York in the USA!

In The Deep Dark Woods

Have a look at this picture.  What do you think lives here? What can you see?
This week we will be using adjectives to describe these woods.  What words would you use to describe these woods?

Wolf Spiders

This week we have been writing about Spiders.  We looked at a picture of this big, brown, hairy spider and thought that it might be a Tarantula! RF knows lots about spiders and told us all that Tarantulas were black and orange and that this type was brown.  We found out that it is called a Wolf Spider and we think it is because it is hairy like a wolf!

Some of us were really scared to look at the photo, however we were brave, and did some excellent descriptive writing.

Writing by FS.  We like how they list just about everything that the Wolf Spider can do.
Writing by JJ.  This person has used the word 'Ginormous' in their writing. What a fantastic word!
What other spiders do you know about?

Our Summer Holidays

Class Anansi went on a lot of adventures over the summer holidays.  We had a lot of fun talking, sharing, drawing and planning our Summer Holiday Big Write.  One of us even went to the beach by train!

While most of us went to the park or played with friends, some of us went to the museum.  Here is an example of a Y1 piece of writing.

Summer Holidays

Wow, wasn't that an exciting summer!  What did you get up to?  Did you go to the park?  Did you go to see friends or family? Who watched the Olympics and Paralympics?

I did! I went to London to watch the Women's Basketball and then sat in a crowd to cheer on Bradley Wiggins.  Who can see me in the crowd?

This week we will be talking, thinking, playing and writing all about our summer holidays.  We will share our best work on the blog this week!

This will be the blog for Walkley's Year 1 and 2 class.

They are the Anansis!
